Teachers
Natasha MartinNatasha is a Yoga (YA 500 hrs) + Fitness teacher, as well as the Founder + Owner of Studio 191 Amsterdam.
Natasha's desire is to create more opportunity for people to connect with their real sense of self; to explore fiercely + without fear of judgement their full expression of who they are + how they wish to live their lives. Natasha teaches + practices yoga because it creates the time + space required to connect with oneself. Through a creative practice, we learn that our bodies are an expression of the life we live + through continued practice + exploration, we have the choice + strength to change + evolve to create the best life, the best version of ourselves. With all of her practices rooted in yoga + with a strong interest in the principles of Yin + Yang (believing that a healthy practice is one that explores all sides of ourselves), Natasha approaches movement as a gateway to the mental + emotional body. For her, yoga + movement is a creative outlet and expression of who we are, where we've been + where we are going. Yoga + Movement with Natasha in MarrakechNatasha's morning sessions will take an active, energising + detoxifying approach to movement, with a dynamic series of yang flows integrated with core conditioning moves + barre moves.
With it's foundations in yoga, each practice will begin with a guided breath meditation + salutations to the sun followed by a creative sequence of dance-like flows + sculpting moves to give you the most energising start to the day. Keeping in the holiday spirit, each active morning session will finish with a blissful savasana (relaxation) combined with a rosewater + aromatherapy mini head and neck massage. Natasha's classes are creative, positively challenging + connective. If you're looking for some deep body work - whilst also address subjects of the heart (or simply to release some stress + tension), Natasha's sessions will leave you feeling fully connected, lighter + motivated towards positive change. |
Rachel JohnstonRachel is an Artist and Yoga Teacher (RYT 500 hrs) on a lifelong mission to become, and help others become, better movers.
Our bodies represent the life we have lived so far; a map of our personal history. It is through our choices of movement, day and night, and the cellular loads these choices create that our bodies become our autobiography. Rachel teaches and practices yoga because it provides a useful tool to view the way we move and feel and to change the patterns we find that are no longer useful. It is her aim to give people a tool for self-enquiry and greater self-acceptance. These aims are based on exploring personal freedom and the willingness and ability to engage with others with curiosity and compassion. Rachel presupposes no deity, follows no guru or approved “system" and engages gladly with any relevant material - past or present - that serves this practice. She has been practicing and teaching yoga this way in recent years, basing her work on sound bio-mechanical principles. Yoga + Movement with Rachel in MarrakechRachel's evening sessions will take a skills based approach to the active Yoga Asana and take inspiration from many movement modalities.
The first hour will have you flowing through a blend of traditional yoga asana, functional movement and corrective exercise, with a focus on mobility, helping you to learn how your body is designed to move and exploring ways to integrate it into your life. Each session will culminate in a few restorative postures and some breath work meditation designed for relaxation and rejuvenation. Rachel’s classes are intimate, informative and fun. You will work, you will laugh, you will be surprised, you will be humbled, you will feel cared for and acknowledged. |
About Marrakech
Marrakech is a city in the grip of a feverish imagination – a thousand year old carnival with its plentiful storytellers and soothsayers, acrobats and water sellers making their way through the labyrinth of alleyways and past 100’s of minarets. An enchanted place where time has been suspended, giving you a glimpse of its rich and remote roots, its ancient past still planted firmly and
un-shakingly in the present.
There is also a modern Marrakech, with luxury hotels and streets with impatient mopeds and guides, all co-existing seamlessly with the past. It is a Berber rather than Arab city; the traditional capital of Atlas tribes, Mahgrebis from the plains, Saharan nomads and slaves from beyond the desert. It was founded around 1062 and in 1126 the first circuit of walls were raised from “tabia” – the red mud of the plains.
